A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Wordscom ReviewRating 45 stars out of 5For the full review visit that review The second story in Sedonia Guillone's Sword and Silk trilogy Blind Love is a gorgeous blend of Japanese history culture and a romance that's perhaps eastern than western in its outlook on love I found that remarkably true in keeping to its characters its era and the situation the men found themselves itIts a heartbreaking story in many regards Two young boys who love each other separated first by birth into different levels of stature One is the son of servants the other the son of a samurai who runs a dojo Then comes a devastating illness that blinds Sho and is destined to separate them further when Sho is sent away and disappears Told from Hirata's pov the author writes boyhood scenes of happiness that we can easily connect with them and then of the utmost terror when the separation comes From all that has passed before we know that Sho has become an essential part of Hirata and now that's been torn away Trust me the tears will flowFor all our reviews author interviews and giveaways visit us at

This review is for the second edition of the book published by Dreamspinner The author did a wonderful job capturing the essence of Japanese samurai culture The setting rang authentic What didn't work for me was the romance I did not expect a traditional romance but the way Hirata had to beg Sho to keep him made me sad Hirata is loyal and faithful a true samurai Sho is a much complex character and I never understood him Hirata and Sho were best friends as boys until Sho was blinded by an illness and taken away to train with an anma a sort of masseusehealer The men are two parts of a whole and once Hirata comes of age he leaves his father's house and searches for Sho for ten years sleeping where he can and doing odd jobs along the way once the journey money his father gave him runs out But when Hirata finally finds Sho Sho pretends not to know him Sho is cruel to Hirata pushing him away and talking in riddles There's a sword fight comforthealing and a strong HEA There are two sensual scenes in the story but only one features both MCs Blind Love is well written and contains some tender moments between two men destined to be soulmates However there is a scene at approximately 35 percent that upset me so much I almost DNF I wish the author had kept it off page as it tainted the story for me
